At Canadian Legacy Builder, we are committed to spreading the word about individuals that are working to make a difference. We believe that one person one moment in time can make the world of difference.
A friend from University is working to make a massive difference with her time and talents but needs our help. She has joined Teachers Helping Teachers which is a grass roots organization that was founded in 2008 by a core group of teachers within the Toronto Catholic District School Board. Teachers Helping Teachers Canada is in partnership with Greg Rogers’ Adventure Learning Experiences, Free The Children, the Toronto Catholic District School Board and the Toronto District School Board. I will spend three weeks in July 2012 with a group of about 15 Toronto teachers working with local teachers at an elementary school in a small village near Nairobi in Kenya. The goal is to provide support, resources and training for teachers in the developing world, so that quality education becomes a sustainable reality, working to reduce poverty. "Our mission is to train and equip volunteer educators to conduct professional development in developing countries; working as a team to gather resources and raise funds towards the program. By partnering with our organization, you will not only help to make a difference in the communities we work in, but work towards breaking the cycle of poverty for future generations." - Teachers Helping Teachers Canada
This is the message from my friend Sarah as to why to support her cause. “Education is my passion! I work hard here in Toronto and see this as an opportunity to dive a bit deeper into education at the international level. I would like to share my professional knowledge and learn from other cultures about educational successes and struggles. I need your help to do it! The entire trip costs $5300 and I am trying to raise half of these funds. I am paying the other half. Please help me work in Kenya! Many thanks for any support you can offer! Thank you!! Sarah :)”
